"I credit Judith and Concepts For Living for saving my Uncle Irv's life. At a time when my family needed help, Judith was there for us. She listened to what my Uncle needed and guided us to make a difficult decision in his best interest. Uncle Irv is happy, healthier and enjoying his new home where he is getting all the care he needs. Thank you, Judith and Concepts For Living."

"Concepts for Living played a major role in my recent search for a home in the senior community. Susan Pomerantz began by really listening to my story: my background, needs, desires and financial situation. She then selected the six most suitable senior residences for my needs and took me to each one for an in-depth visit. She chose well…any of the six would have worked quite nicely, making my final choice difficult indeed. But with Sue's help, I made the right choice and could not be happier with the result. My new home is a simply wonderful place to be. Thanks Sue."

"Sue Pomerantz with Concepts for Living helped to ease the enormous burden I was confronted with when my father required long term care. This was a whole new journey for me and she assisted me with her excellent guidance and knowledge of senior care in a professional yet compassionate and caring manner. I feel fortunate that I connected with Sue during this very difficult time. "

"When Judith Diamond the Director of community Relations for the South Bay Region of Concepts for Living agreed to give a presentation at the Caregiver Training Class for the Torrance Adult School, I was very excited to learn more about what the company does. Judith gave an excellent presentation to the group of students who attended the class. All of us learned so much about aging in general. Judith told us some of the specific things we should look for when deciding about placement and the many options. Everyone was happy to know that a company such as Concepts for Living had such experts who do the ground work and make life a little easier when difficult decisions need to be made about placement. Thank-you for all the great information and an excellent and professional presentation!"

"Thanks to Sue for being so knowledgeable and helpful as I arranged for my mother's move across the country to a senior residence in Los Angeles. Sue is a real professional--she asks just the right questions to gather the information she needs to give you guidance, and then knows not only the hard facts about the different living facilities but also about the "culture" and atmosphere in each one. She's an absolute gem! Thanks."

"The most difficult decision a child ever has to make is not “when” is the right time to move your parents to assisted living but “where” to move them. Trusting strangers with your parents’ safety and comfort is a difficult task and one that is even harder when you're 2000 miles away.

My anxiety and stress level were beyond measure until I met Sue Pomerantz. I knew immediately that Sue understood both the pressure on the child as well as the fear surrounding the person about to face the next journey in life. Before meeting Sue, it felt like nobody could make it through this period and come away with any sense of peace.

Sue had the sensitivity to hear the needs of our family and the skills to find the facility that met the requirements of mother and child. She was quick to assess our situation and diligent in finding the perfect match. Sue had a comprehensive understanding of the various facilities available and yet guided me smoothly and accurately toward what she felt would work best. And, she was right! I'm still 2000 miles away but everyday I rest easier knowing my Mom is in a care home that is beautiful, warm and loving. I attribute this good fortune to Sue Pomerantz. I will be forever grateful."

"My family and I would like to take this opportunity to give you and Concepts for Living a heartfelt thank you. As you know, my father's Alzheimer's had advanced to the point where my mother was no longer able to care for him. We had no idea where to begin to look, but we knew that we wanted a board-and-care facility close to their home. You talked with my mother and myself several times to get a complete background of our needs and then followed up on our progress.

You took what was the most stressful situation that our family has ever faced and made it a situation where we suddenly felt that we had options for the care of my father, and the match that we found was just perfect for our family. The fact that there was no charge to us for any of your services was also a big help. We thought we would need to seek help from an outside social worker, but you became the "outside" person to talk to about the situation, to clarify what our exact needs were; this was something that was so invaluable to us.

Thank you for all your help. Your kindness and patience saw us through the most difficult time in our lives. We appreciate every thing you have done for us."

"I want to thank you for all the help and guidance you gave me during the last three years while I cared for my Mom. Thanks in large part to you; she was well cared for and able to enjoy herself, despite her age and related ailments...

I was introduced to Concepts for Living by a social worker in the rehabilitation unit at Encino Hospital, who told me the contact [you] if I need help. When is became clear that Mom would not be able to return to he condo, I phone Concepts for Living and from the moment [you] picked up the phone I knew I had made the right move. You later returned my call spending an enormous amount of time to assess the situation and understand the options available to us.

I'm sure you're well aware of he many problems to be dealt with when a parent suddenly and critically falls ill, and I want you to be aware of how helpful you were to us. Concepts for Living is a wonderful and vital organization that provides a priceless service to our community. "

"In every profession there are people who do their job well but then there are a few special people who don't just do their regular job but who put in that extra effort to help others. You took the time to check other sources for me....and in doing so you reconnected me with the most appropriate choice and saved me much time and effort in the process. Thank you for your courtesy and consideration."

"I honestly cannot thank you enough for your help in finding my Mom the right facility for her needs. When I was feeling overwhelmed you helped me focus on the right things and take one step at a time in order to find her a good Board & Care home that met all our needs. You taught me what to look for, what questions to ask, and helped me sort out all the variables. This was exactly what I needed - you are simply an angel.

It just so happens that we are thrilled with the care she's receiving so far. The caregivers are warm and loving, and genuinely seem to care about the residents' well-being. Not to mention the peace of mind I have knowing she's only one block away from my house, I am also confident she is receiving the best care, both physically and emotionally. The fact that you were able to put all the puzzle pieces together and find the perfect home for her is simply remarkable.

I will certainly recommend you to anyone I hear of who is in the same situation looking for elder care for a loved one. Thank you so much for all your time and effort with this most important life-transition for my dear mother."

"At 98, our Great Uncle was still living at home alone and planning to stay there until his last breath. After all, he had lived there with his wife for over 60 years, and they built the house with their own two hands. We tried our hardest to keep him home as long as possible and really never expected to have to move him into any assisted living situation.

When it was apparent by everyone that the time had come to move him for his own safety, we truly had no idea which way to turn. We were directed to Concepts for Living as a source for information and it turned out to be the best thing we could have prayed for.

Judith at Concepts for Living not only gave us the needed information on assisted living homes, but she also had a ton of experience and information to share. She had a network of lawyers, doctors, insurance information, reverse mortgage sources, real estate assistance, and suggestions of what to and not to try. She took charge as if she had adopted our family and our worries. We were in her thoughts and whenever she thought of something that might help she wouldn’t hesitate to call and suggest it, much like a family member would do.

Most of all she was a comfort to us during a difficult time. The trauma of moving him at such a late age created such emotional stress that I would call her just to talk and cry on her shoulder. She was always there with comfort and concern. Concepts for Living is more than just a source of information, they are saviors with an enormous mission and they do it with grace and love."

"We have made a very successful transition of our dad to Miko Inn which we never could have accomplished without your service. Thank you! We actually met the owner/managers at Miko Inn on Sunday afternoon, and by Tuesday morning our dad was moved in. You did all the due diligence work for us, so all we had to do was make a decision. During our visit we knew this was the place for our dad so we decided on the spot."

"Recently, both of my elderly parents required to be placed into assisted living. I was referred to Concepts for Living by the Motion Picture Home. Sue Pomerantz was most helpful to advise me regarding the options. She and her staff compiled a list of suitable facilities for me to consider when placing my parents. She was enthusiastic and optimistic. I never felt that this was just a "job" for her.Thank you, Sue. You and your staff made a very trying situation more bearable."

This is a daunting journey for anyone and everyone involved. I thank you and you staff for your experience, understanding and most of all timeliness. Concepts for Living is a highly skilled and professional result oriented organization."

“Six years ago I had to move my mother from Florida to California. She was living in an apartment and after awhile, needed 24/7 nurses aides. Because my brother lives in NY and I’m here in LA, we could not control what was going on.

The decision to bring her to Los Angeles was easy, once I talked her into coming, since her mind was still pretty clear. However, I did not have a clue as to how and where to find a quality assisted living facility. I went to a few and they were horrible. When someone gave me Sue’s name and number I contacted her right away. I received absolutely wonderful advice and assistance, along with a list of places on the Westside that she had inspected and approved. .

Armed with my list, I visited 4 places and interviewed the staff. I eventually found a wonderful facility in Santa Monica. It was a converted house with a living room, dining room, and bedrooms, both doubles and singles, full of sunlight with a patio, backyard and garden, and home-cooked food. All of this because of Sue’s hard work, dedication, and caring. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”

"I just want to thank you very much for the time you spent supplying us with information about local facilities for my wife's mother. Along with some of Elsie's close friends, we made a decision not move her from Corpus Christi to Los Angeles. However, we really appreciate the diligence with which you handled our particular situation and we won't hesitate to recommend you and Concepts for Living to others."

"Not a day passes that I do not think about how my random phone call to you that has changed not only my life, but also, my Dad’s. As you know, the convalescent Hospital where he had been placed for rehab was both unwilling and unable to care for and stimulate my father. Admittedly, Dad exhibits very apparent short-term memory loss, which manifests itself as dementia, all a result of a severe skull fracture suffered in an airplane crash.

When the administrator and the head nurse at the convalescent hospital told me that they could not keep my dad, I fully agreed that it was a “bad fit”. After receiving no guidance from them, I got busy with the yellow pages and found you. What a breath of fresh air and practical imagination!

You obviously asked all the appropriate questions about his condition, medical and financial status. Within hours you had contacted optional alternatives for him and gave me a menu of hope that I might find that magic combination of love, care and stimulation for him. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Because of your wisdom and professional expertise, Dad is now placed in an absolutely beautiful home in the affectionate and knowledgeable care of people who keep him beautifully clean, groomed and happy.

The best news is that he is walking again on his walker, he is on none of the anti-psychotic drugs that the convalescent hospital saw as necessary, and he is thriving. Rather than hearing a daily litany of complaints about his alleged transgressions, I hear affirmation, validation and support. This is a total success story…all because of you.

If there were anything I could do to wave a magic wand to get the word out to the community about the options available to those of us who so love our senior citizens and want to nurture them in the most loving and dignified way possible, I would do just that with your name in neon lights. Thank you for your open ears, your tenacity and your most propitious discernment."

"Just a note to thank you for your help when we were looking for a Senior Retirement Facility. We received quite a few brochures from places you contacted, from Santa Barbara to Thousand Oaks. Several looked interesting and we went to visit them. The brochures and visits helped us determine what we wanted in a retirement apartment. We finally settled in Ventura. We've been here a month and are very happy with our choice. You are giving seniors a great idea of what's available. Keep up the good work! Thanks again."

"Thank you for your time, support and enthusiasm as part of the panel discussions at Circle of Care Leeza's Place. I know that your words and information put many caregivers at ease. Your support of Circle of Care Leeza's Place and me is greatly appreciated."

"Sue, I wanted to touch base with you and thank you for the excellent service you provided to me. My search to locate an appropriate living facility for my aunt would have been a far more stressful task without your expertise. You are also a charming and delightful lady, which was such a "plus", as well. I want you to know that I would highly recommend you and your service to anyone in need of this. I am so glad we hired you for that day. Thank you again, so much, for your time and wealth of knowledge."
